Many course participants from different parts of the world have passed through the doors of IDFR, including from the US, Australia, Thailand, Philippines, Timor Leste, Tonga, Zambia and Iraq. The following are some of the feedbacks received from course participants: "Excellent course. I believed it fulfilled all of my objectives. I am grateful for the Malaysian experience. I will go back to my Foreign Ministry and be a better diplomat. Thanks to the IDFR training course. I wish to come back next year." "The entire course was well packaged to the delight of everybody. An excellent exercise." "On behalf of the Kingdom of Tonga, thank you for the opportunity to share and experience the Malaysian culture. Thank you for the field trips and the accommodation. It has been an enriching experience in which I will take back to my country a positive perspective of the experience and especially towards my future as a diplomat. I have learned important lessons other than just the diplomatic skills--the etiquette of fine dining, humility and respectful towards other diplomats from other countries. Thank you Malaysia for all!" "The course was very beneficial and quite enriching. It covered all aspects, from academic to social interactions. We also gained from Malaysia's rich experience and tolerance of the ethnic groups. We had a chance also to explore the country and at the end of the day, we can truly say--Malaysia is Truly Asia." Several students from local universities, including Universiti Utara Malaysia and Universiti Islam Antarabangsa, also had an opportunity to experience life at IDFR while doing their internship here. Here are some of their thoughts: "IDFR is an excellent place for interns to obtain experience especially in areas concerning the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Malaysia Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP). It allowed us to meet and discuss with foreign participants." "I learned about time management, communication skills, research methodology and protocol in official functions. Being an intern at IDFR was meaningful and I gained a lot of working experience, which will be useful in the future." "I improved my general knowledge and learned communication skills. I also had the opportunity to attend courses and functions organised by IDFR. My internship at IDFR was a very interesting experience. IDFR is a suitable venue for university students’ practical sessions, especially for those taking international relations." |
