The Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) hosted a visit by H.E Hiba Mahmoud Sadiq Fareed, State Minister of Human Resources Development of Sudan to the Institute on 11 May 2012. She was heading a four member delegation and accompanied by H.E Nadir Yousif Eltayeb, the Ambassador of Sudan to Malaysia. The meeting with the visiting delegation was chaired by YBhg. Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari, Director General of IDFR, attended the First International Seminar On Malaysian-Thai Studies (ISMATS 2012) on the invitation of the organizer, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) in Sintok, Kedah. The two day event which took place from 7-8 May 2012 saw the participation of about 120 students, keen individuals and academicians from Universiti Utara Malaysia and four Thai Universities. The Launch of Malaysian Diplomats: Our Stories Vol. 1
The Malaysian Diplomats: Our Stories Vol. 1 book project was initiated a few years ago, but due to unforeseen circumstances, the project was put on the back burner. Today, 3 May 2012, it was finally launched! The book, a compilation of ten articles contributed by former and current serving ambassadors, is the first in the series of what IDFR hopes to be a yearly endeavour. Visit to Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 31st Edition
In conjunction with the 31st edition of Kuala Lumpur International Bookfair (KLIBF) that was held at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), Kuala Lumpur from Friday, 27 April until Sunday, 6 May 2012, a group of 15 IDFR members visited the bookfair on 2 May 2012. The visit was to facilitate the selection of reading materials and references for teaching and learning needs as well as to buy books for personal needs. The French Level VII evening course ended on 25th April 2012. Altogether 8 participants were registered for this part time course. They came from the Royal Malaysian Police, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry and the National Museum. The participants who completed the course will proceed to the Advanced Level which will start in October and is now open for registration. A few participants are also busy preparing for the Delf examination as they are planning to take this external examination in June. Read More.

A four- day course on Effective Writing Skills was held from Monday, 23 April 2012 to Thursday, 26 April 2012. From 16 to 27 April 2012, the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) successfully conducted the Orientation Course for Secretaries which was newly introduced last September 2011. The numbers of participants that took part in this course were twelve (12) secretaries from various Wisma Putra divisions and four (4) from IDFR.
