About IDFR

 

The Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, is a premier institution of excellence offering subject-matter expertise in the area of diplomacy and international relations to Malaysian diplomats, officials from other ministries and agencies as well as foreign participants through training and learning programmes, analytical focused research, renowned publications and professional consultancy.

The learning experience in IDFR offers a blend of both theoretical and practical aspects of diplomacy and international relations. The programme also provides a pragmatic approach, especially for practitioners in international affairs.

All students at IDFR are given the opportunities to participate in seminars and roundtable discussions by leading experts as well as public lectures by distinguished leaders and prominent personalities (past speakers included Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, Ban Ki-moon, Kofi Annan, Haris Silajdzic, Lee Hsien Loong, Nelson Mandela and Yasser Arafat).

Over the past 15 years, the IDFR-UKM programme has produced more than 250 alumni, who live and work in different corners of the world, including Afghanistan, Albania, Australia, Bosnia, Canada, China, Croatia, Egypt, Fiji, Indonesia, Japan, Maldives, Mauritius, Myanmar, Namibia, Palestine, Papua New Guinea, Oman, Pakistan, the Philippines, Russia, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Thailand, United States, Vietnam, Zambia – you will become a part of this expansive alumni network that fosters lifelong relationships and friendship across the globe.
