Brainstorming Session, Puncak Rimba, Bukit Tinggi

Twenty six IDFR officers including the Director General were whisked away from the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur back to the peaceful and tranquil nature at Puncak Rimba, a hideout nestled in between the lush greenery of Bukit Tinggi, Pahang, last 18 and 19 February 2011, Friday and Saturday for a two days brainstorming session.

The 40 minutes journey to Puncak Rimba started as early as 7.30 am to avoid the pressing traffic jam of Kuala Lumpur.  As the officers walked through the entrance of Puncak Rimba, they were transported away from the daily views of sky-high buildings and troops of people to a feast of the eyes in forms of breathtaking artfully designed landscape and Balinese architectures accompanied by gushing sounds of river which instantly sooth the busy minds and lull the stressful souls.

The Officers were greeted and lavished with excellent hospitality by the organizer, Datuk Jamal Hisne Ismail and his team. The two-day escapades were designed to gear-up the brainstorming session which focused on ways and methods to fulfill our vision and missions in-line with our aspiration to be at the global standing.

The brainstorming session were held in casual atmosphere and were fully participated by all the officers. Ideas, thoughts, comments were thrown out and shared all across the big discussion floor. Among the aspects discussed were strategic planning, goal-based planning, strategic analysis and action plan of IDFR for the upcoming years. It was also stressed out that a standardized system is to be implemented to ensure each project is properly executed and accomplish the targets within the set timeline.

Despite the tight schedule, the Officers managed to steal away some light-hearted moments fishing Patin, Bao and Kelai in the evening. Baits were eaten repeatedly, but the fishes were just too shy to make appearances above the water surface, thus all ended up empty-handed. A karaoke session was also held after the evening session which was the window for the Officers to recharge after a day-long session of thinking and comprehending.

The outcome of the brainstorming session was indeed very satisfactory and considered as a successful session.  Everyone will work together to create a system and working environment which are conducive as well as to improve our performance in order to open up IDFR to the other agencies and ministries to become a regional as well as a global hub for diplomacy and foreign relations.
