The Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) successfully concluded its dynamic and transformative Empowering Leadership Excellence Through Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) Course from 11 to 13 November 2025. The specialised three-day course was designed to equip government officers with the cutting-edge tools of NLP to enhance their leadership skills, communication, and emotional resilience in the public sector.

Organised by the Centre for Leadership, Negotiation and Public Diplomacy (LNPD), the course was held at the Seri Pacific Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The programme welcomed twenty participants from various ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Human Resources, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Housing and Local Government, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Health.

The core objective of the course was to enable participants to enhance their leadership effectiveness through NLP techniques to build confidence, clarity, and influence. Over three days, officers were immersed in sessions focusing on Personal Discovery, the Pillars and Presupposition of NLP, Effective Interpersonal Communication, and Redesign of Visioning Leadership. A significant emphasis was placed on strengthening communication, rapport-building, and emotional intelligence, and learning how to align personal values with organisational goals to foster growth and resilience. The hands-on methodology, delivered by experts Dr. Amir Aris and Professor Dr. Angzzas Sari Mohd Kassim, ensured that participants gained the necessary mindset and actionable strategies for continuous leadership excellence.

In conclusion, the NLP-focused training represents IDFR’s commitment to cultivate a generation of government officers who can lead with unparalleled confidence, clarity, and impact. By transforming limiting beliefs and mastering adaptive communication, the participants are now better equipped to accelerate their professional growth, drive innovation, and make meaningful, resilient contributions to the dynamic landscape of Malaysia’s public service.
