The Centre for Languages and Cultural Diplomacy (CLCD), Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), has concluded another foreign language course titled "French Language Day-to-Day Communication Course for Wisma Putra Officers". The course was conducted physically at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on every Monday and Wednesday evening from 5 May to 14 August 2025. With twenty-five officers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs participating, the course was held to help the officers master the basics of the French language.
Through the activities and exercises conducted throughout the 42-hour duration, the officers were able to apply their knowledge of the language in various daily situations, enabling them to converse in French with ease. However, to ensure the officers will be able to speak fluently in the language, the institute will be conducting a continuation of this course, thus enabling the officers to gain further knowledge of the language.
Arabic
The Centre for Languages and Cultural Diplomacy (CLCD), Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), has concluded the foreign language course titled "Arabic Language Day-to-Day Communication Course for Wisma Putra Officers". The course was held twice a week at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 5 May to 14 August 2025.
This 42-hour course was specifically conducted with the intention to help the officers in mastering the basics of the Arabic language. Through the activities and exercises performed, the twenty-five officers were able to build their confidence in communicating as well as completing simple tasks in the Arabic language. To allow for further mastery of the language, an upcoming continuation of this course will be held soon, enabling the officers to enhance their knowledge further.
Spanish
The Centre for Languages and Cultural Diplomacy (CLCD), Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), has concluded the foreign language course titled "Spanish Language Day-to-Day Communication Course for Wisma Putra Officers". The course was held physically every evening on Monday and Wednesday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 5 May to 14 August 2025.
This 42-hour course was conducted with the intention of helping officers build a solid foundation in the Spanish language for everyday workplace interactions. Through a range of activities, including role-plays, dialogues, and listening tasks, the twenty-five officers who participated in the programme were able to strengthen their ability to apply the language to handle everyday situations as well as understand familiar expressions and complete simple work-related tasks in Spanish with greater confidence. To enable further mastery of the language, a continuation course will be conducted later to expand the officers' knowledge of the language.
Russian
The Centre for Languages and Cultural Diplomacy (CLCD), Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), successfully wrapped up the "Russian Language Day-to-Day Communication Course for Wisma Putra Officers", held physically at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 5 May to 14 August 2025. Designed to introduce officers to the essentials of Russian for everyday interaction, the 42-hour course offered a structured yet engaging approach to the officers in learning the language. A total of twenty-five officers took part in the course and explored various aspects of the language, including the vocabulary, key expressions, and communication patterns commonly used in social settings.
Throughout the course, the officers took part in many interactive tasks such as situational dialogues and pronunciation drills, enabling them to develop the confidence needed to navigate simple daily exchanges in Russian. To support the officers in mastering the language further, the institute will be offering a continuation level of the course in the near future.
