The Centre for Languages and Cultural Diplomacy (CLCD), officially concluded the “Say It Right: A Course on Pronunciation” course from 31 March to 2 April 2026 at the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR). Over the course of three days, the course welcomed 20 participants, Grades 1-7, representing various government ministries and agencies.

The course participants comprised government officers from organisations including the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), Immigration Department of Malaysia, Ministry of Digital, Department of Environment, Ministry of Transport, National Sports Institute (NSI), National Archives of Malaysia, Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), Malaysian Meteorological Department, National Department for Culture and Arts, Pahang State Health Department, Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, and the Ministry of National Unity.

The curriculum focused on enhancing spoken English by familiarising participants with the English sound system and key elements of effective speech, such as stress, rhythm, and intonation. To support these learning objectives, the training utilised interactive sessions and practical activities related to real-life communication contexts, including socialising skills and telephone etiquette. This is to ensure these skills remain relevant to daily workplace interactions while building confidence and improving spoken intelligibility.

This course aligns with IDFR’s commitment to upskilling government officers with skills to communicate with clarity, precision, and competence.
