The Centre for Languages and Cultural Diplomacy (CLCD) conducted the “Presentation Skills for Junior Officers” course from 21 to 23 April 2026 at the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR). The three-day course brought together junior officers from Grades 9 and 10, representing a diverse range of government ministries and agencies.
Participants included officers from organisations such as the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter-Terrorism (SEARCCT), Public Service Department, Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), Ministry of Digital, Malaysia Marine Department, National Academy of Arts, Culture, and Heritage (ASWARA), National Archives of Malaysia, Ministry of Youth and Sports, National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN), Pekan, and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), among others.
The course focused on developing participants’ ability to deliver clear, structured, and engaging presentations in professional settings. Emphasis was placed on organising ideas effectively, using appropriate language, and enhancing delivery through confident verbal and non-verbal communication. Participants were also introduced to practical strategies for managing nervousness and maintaining audience engagement.
Through interactive activities and hands-on practice, participants had the opportunity to apply their skills in realistic presentation scenarios while receiving constructive feedback. This approach aimed to strengthen both their confidence and overall presentation effectiveness in the workplace. This reflects CLCD and IDFR’s continued focus on building practical communication skills for government officers.
