The Centre for Languages and Cultural Diplomacy (CLCD), Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), conducted the Speech Writing for Mid-Level Officers course from 3 to 5 June 2026 at IDFR, Kuala Lumpur.
The three-day course brought together Grade 12 and Grade 13 officers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as various ministries and government agencies. It aimed to strengthen participants’ ability to craft strategic, persuasive and policy-aligned speeches for official and senior-level contexts.
Participants explored key principles of effective speech writing, including policy context, persuasive messaging, argument development and speech structure. Through guided drafting workshops, peer review and trainer feedback, participants developed complete speech drafts that reflected clarity, coherence and strategic intent.
The course reflects IDFR’s continued commitment to enhancing government officers’ professional communication skills through practical and targeted training.
