Leadership Course for Mid-Level Officers: Developing Leaders Today for Tomorrow

The Centre for Leadership, Negotiation and Public Diplomacy (LNPD), IDFR has organised the Leadership Course for Mid-Level Officers: Developing Leaders Today for Tomorrow from 7 until 9 April 2021 at IDFR. This three-day course was conducted for mid-level officers, Grade 48 until 52. The course was designed to cover the officers' essentials of leadership that will help them to build on their core competency in this area.

The course was attended by 24 participants from nine different ministries and agencies/departments such as Ministry of Education (MOE), Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), National Audit Department, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB), Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), Ministry of Defence (MOD), and Malaysia External Trade Development (MATRADE).

The course aimed at developing participants’ understanding on the pertinent and latest leadership concepts as well as to enhance their leadership skill as civil servant. Moreover, the course intended to strengthen participants’ analytical skills and abilities so that they will be able to lead an organisation with high level of confidence and lastly, to equip the participants with the abilities to think critically, and handle situations and issues faced at work diplomatically as mid-level officers.

Among the modules designed for them were sessions on Introduction to Leadership; Theory & Mechanics of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) to Improve Leadership and Relationship; Leadership Meta-Programme; Amazing Leader with Inspiring NLP Communication; The Power Zone of a Leader; Reframing Obstacles: Circle of Excellence, Swish, Perceptual Position, New Behaviour Generator; Managing Stress at Work; Understanding and Resolving Conflict; and Maintaining Workplace Harmony.

Mr. Hamizan Hashim, Director of LNPD delivered his closing remarks and presented the certificates to the participants during the closing ceremony on the last day of the course.
