SPKM: Pre-Posting Orientation Course for Home-Based series 3/2024 (Grade 41 and above)
The Pre-Posting Course for Home-Based Officers Series 3/2024, held from 23 July to 2 August 2024 was a resounding success. Tailored for officers of Grade 41 and above, along with their spouses, the course aimed to equip them with essential knowledge and skills in diplomacy and international diplomatic practices, crucial for their roles at Malaysian Missions abroad.
86 participants representing various ministries and government agencies attended the nine-day course. The comprehensive programme covered a wide range of topics essential for their future assignments, including inspectorate matters, SPKM guidelines, asset management, audit and finance, accounting, protocol, consular services, personal security, and the importance of integrity in both professional and personal spheres. To enhance interpersonal skills, a special session on personal grooming and social etiquette was included. Participants were also introduced to the importance of maintaining mental health while stationed abroad. A highlight of this year's course was the introduction of a new session on Gastrodiplomacy —an innovative approach that uses food as a means to foster cultural understanding, build relationships, and strengthen Malaysia's soft power on the global stage.
The overwhelming positive feedback from the participants, expressing satisfaction with the course content and flow, is a testament to the course's success. At the closing ceremony, YBhg. Dato’ Agus Salim Yusof, Director of the Centre of Leadership, Negotiation, and Public Diplomacy, commended the participants for their commitment and thanked the speakers for sharing their invaluable knowledge and experience. He expressed confidence that the skills and insights gained during the course will greatly enhance the participants' effectiveness in their diplomatic duties abroad.
