SPKM main1

The Centre for Leadership, Negotiation, and Public Diplomacy (LNPD) successfully conducted the second series of the Pre-Posting Orientation Course for Home-Based Staff and Spouses Series 02/25 from 15 to 23 April 2025. Tailored for the supporting staff and their spouses, the course was designed to provide participants with fundamental knowledge of diplomatic practices, consular responsibilities, and administrative procedures, equipping them for their upcoming assignments abroad.

This series brought together 65 participants from various ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysian Armed Forces, Royal Malaysian Police, Immigration Department, Tourism Malaysia, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), and Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM).

Over the span of seven days, participants engaged in a series of comprehensive sessions that covered topics relevant to their future roles. These included inspectorate matters, asset management, financial administration, and protocol and consular services, all of which highlighted the importance of resource management and operational efficiency at Malaysian Missions abroad.

A notable highlight of the course was the introduction of a new module by Akademi Kenegaraan Malaysia, which aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of Malaysia’s nationhood, identity, and core values. This addition significantly enriched the programme by deepening participants appreciation of the national principles that shape Malaysia’s foreign policy and diplomatic engagement.

The course concluded with a closing session officiated by Dato’ Agus Salim Yusof, Director LNPD IDFR. In his remarks, he commended the participants for their active engagement and dedication throughout the programme and extended his appreciation to the speakers, facilitators, and organisers for their invaluable contributions.

The positive feedback received from participants ensured the course’s effectiveness in preparing officers and their spouses with the skills, knowledge, and confidence required to excel in their diplomatic postings.
