The Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) successfully organised the Strategic Thinking in Negotiations Course from 4 to 6 November 2025. Organised by the Centre for Leadership, Negotiation, and Public Diplomacy (LNPD) at Bilik Sidang Akhbar, Wisma Putra, the course was attended by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The course was meticulously crafted to apply strategic thinking frameworks to decision-making in diplomatic and negotiation contexts, design negotiation strategies aligned with national interests and foreign policy objectives, navigate complex bilateral and multilateral negotiations using structured planning and communication tools, and demonstrate negotiation competencies through practical simulations. Through a blend of experience-sharing by seasoned diplomats, analytical frameworks, and practical strategy development, participants explored how to align negotiation outcomes with broader policy goals.
In conclusion, the Strategic Thinking in Negotiations Course was a resounding success, not just in imparting knowledge but in empowering Wisma Putra officers to be better equipped to navigate challenges, foster cooperation, and contribute effectively to Malaysia’s international engagements.
