The Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), through the Centre for Languages and Cultural Diplomacy (CLCD), successfully held the Report, Brief and Correspondence Writing Course for Wisma Putra Officers on 7 October 2025. The programme brought together a strong turnout of Grade 41 and 44 officers, signalling the Ministry’s ongoing priority to strengthen high-quality written communication across the Foreign Service.
The course was led by Dato’ Ahmad Rozian Abd Ghani, Ambassador Suzilah Mohd Sidek, Mr Adlan Mohd Shaffieq and Mr Wan Mohd Afeek Afifi Wan Ali. Through practical examples and clear guidance, they equipped officers with the skills needed to produce concise, accurate and policy-relevant documents that meet Wisma Putra standards.
Participants responded very positively to the training. They appreciated the clarity of the sessions, the accessibility of the explanations and the opportunity to learn directly from experienced diplomats. Many found the real examples and insider insights particularly useful for improving their day-to-day writing responsibilities.
Officers also expressed interest in future sessions that offer more hands-on drafting opportunities and expanded coverage of related areas such as social media writing and press releases.
The success of this programme reflects IDFR’s continued commitment to developing the writing competence and professional readiness of Malaysia’s diplomatic officers. CLCD will continue to provide targeted and practical training that supports the evolving communication needs of Wisma Putra.
