The Centre for Languages and Cultural Diplomacy (CLCD), Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) has wrapped up the Mandarin language courses conducted in collaboration with Han Culture Centre Malaysia titled “Kursus Bahasa Mandarin Tahap Asas dan Tahap Pertengahan”. With two beginner classes and one intermediate class, the courses were conducted physically at Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) on every Saturday from 13 September to 22 November 2025.
There was a total of 127 participants spanning the three classes, with 110 participants in the beginner classes and 17 in the intermediate class, all of which belongs to various ministries and agencies, such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), Royal Malaysia Police, Immigration Department of Malaysia, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP), Ministry of Education (MOE), Federal Court of Malaysia, Ministry of Health (MOH), Malaysian Examinations Council, Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation, Ministry of Human Resources, Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UNIKL), Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).
The 45-hour courses were designed to equip beginner participants with a strong foundation in Mandarin, including lessons on essential vocabulary, basic sentence patterns, and practical communication skills. On the other hand, the intermediate class helped participants expand their existing knowledge of the language through more advanced structure and vocabulary lessons, as well as multiple activities that allowed them to apply the language effectively in various scenarios. Furthermore, the Closing Ceremony that was held physically at Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka on 22 November 2025, provided opportunities for the participants to showcase their hard work and effort through various performances, garnering praise from the guests, including the representative of the Embassy of China, as well as Chinese and Malaysian TV stations.
