
The Centre for Languages and Cultural Diplomacy (CLCD), Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) has conducted the “Korean Language Course Level 1 and Level 2” in collaboration with the Korean Education Centre (KEC). The courses were conducted online from 2 September to 20 November 2025 every Tuesday and Thursday evening.
The courses were attended by a total of fifty-two participants, with twenty-seven participants for Level 1 and twenty-one participants for Level 2. The participants came from various ministries and agencies, such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter-Terrorism (SEARCCT), Royal Malaysian Police (RMP), Prime Minister’s Department of Malaysia, Ministry of Education (MOE), Attorney General's Chambers of Malaysia, Institut Penyiaran dan Penerangan Tun Abdul Razak (IPPTAR), Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Duchess of Kent Hospital, National Blood Centre, Pagoh Vocational College, Department of Syariah Judiciary Malaysia, National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA), Department of Mineral and Geoscience Malaysia (JMG), Ministry of Digital, Ministry of Youth and Sport, Parliament of Malaysia, Federal Territories Department, Ministry of Defense Malaysia (MINDEF), Office of the Chief Registrar Federal Court of Malaysia and Department of Environment.
The 42-hour courses were conducted with the intention to help the participants in mastering the basics of Korean language, including simple vocabulary and phrases for everyday use for those who attended the Level 1 course. On the other hand, the Level 2 course was conducted in order to enhance the participants’ existing knowledge of the language and improve their fluency in applying the language effectively. Through active participation throughout the sessions, the participants showed remarkable proficiency of the language, ranging from their ability to use simple texts for everyday basis to conversing in formal setting.
