
The Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) successfully hosted the Negotiation Course for Junior Officers from Grade 9 and 10 - 10 to 12 February 2026. The Centre for Leadership, Negotiation and Public Diplomacy (LNPD) organized the three-day course that brought together junior officers from different Ministries and Agencies; fostering a dynamic and collaborative learning environment.
The course was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Plantation and Commodities, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Housing and Local Government, Prime Minister's Department, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, and the Institute of Strategic and International Studies. Their active participation and strong commitment contributed significantly to the success of the course.
Designed to strengthen foundational negotiation competencies, the course enhanced participants’ ability to communicate effectively, manage diverse interests, and pursue constructive outcomes. Through discussions, practical simulations, and collaborative exercises, participants developed greater confidence in handling negotiations within their respective portfolios.
In conclusion, the Negotiation Course for Junior Officers strengthened participants’ negotiation skills and confidence; and it is hoped that these skills will be applied effectively in their diverse scope of duties.
