
The Centre for Languages and Cultural Diplomacy (CLCD) recently organised the “English Writing Workshop” from 23 to 25 June 2026 at the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR). This three-day workshop was conducted with the aim to enhance participants’ competencies in drafting, refining and polishing writing skills suited for commonly used work-related documents. Throughout the training provided, the participants gained practical insights and support in producing clearer and well-structured written texts.
To meet the high standards required in preparing official work documents, the workshop placed a particular emphasis in the technical aspects of text construction. The participants were provided gradual guidance on the writing process, which includes several elements such as appropriate sentence structure construction, proper usage of grammar and language as well as practical editing techniques to ensure better clarity and cohesion in writing.
The government officers who participated in this course came from various ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Youth and Sports Department, Institut Kemahiran Sukan Negara, The Department of Wildlife and National Parks Peninsular Malaysia, Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority, Ministry of Transport, Malaysia Prisons Department, Malaysian Nuclear Agency, Tourism Malaysia, Kluang Integration School, Department of Veterinary Services, Department of Director General of Lands and Mines, National Advanced Youth Vocational Institute and Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
Overall, the workshop has equipped the participants with practical tools to strengthen their drafting skills, ensuring they are better prepared to produce clear and structured documents for their respective ministries and agencies.
