The Strategic and Security Analysis Course (SSAC) was successfully conducted at the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) from 19 to 21 August 2026. Bringing together 23 Grade 9 to 12 officers from key government ministries and agencies, the intensive three-day programme was structured to sharpen analytical foresight, rigor, and strategic decision-making capabilities. By bolstering these competencies across national security, foreign policy, and defence sectors, the course equipped participants with practical frameworks to evaluate risk, anticipate geopolitical shifts, and navigate today’s increasingly complex and fragmented global landscape.
The course encompassed four specialised modules: Malaysia’s Foreign Policy and Strategic Interests, delivered by Dato Westmoreland Palon of IDFR; Data and Intelligence Analysis, presented by Australian Government Officials; Tools for Strategic Analysis in Decision Making, facilitated by Mr. Zakariya Othman, Senior Strategic Advisor and Risk Management Specialist; and Effective Intelligence Reporting, led by Dato’ Rani Ismail Hadi Ali, former Deputy Director-General I of the Prime Minister’s Department.
Throughout the course, participants actively engaged in lectures and group discussions, exchanging strategic insights on key policy issues. They examined methodologies to develop innovative analytical approaches for decision-making while assessing internal capabilities and external risk environments. Upon concluding the programme, participants were presented with certificates in recognition of their successful completion.
