The fourth series of the Pre-Posting Orientation Course for Home-Based Staff and Spouses under Sistem Pentadbiran Kerajaan Malaysia (SPKM) was held from 24 to 28 September 2018 at the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR).This course was designed for officers Grade 38 and below and their spouses to enhance their diplomatic skills and knowledge in international relations as well as to expose them to matters related to working at a Malaysian Missions abroad.
This course was attended by 20 participants which comprised of government officers from four ministries and government agencies, namely the Malaysian Armed Forces, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Human Resources, Immigration Department and Majlis Agama Islam Melaka, together with their spouses.
Throughout the five-day course, the participants were exposed to various modules, namely Malaysia’s Foreign Policy; Cross Cultural Awareness; Enhancing Personal Security; Financial Management; Auditing Matters; Administrative and Security Matters at Mission; Protocol Matters Related to Foreign Service; as well as Consular Work at Mission. They were also exposed to ways of personal grooming and social etiquette and also ethics and integrity in strengthening their accountability when serving abroad.
IDFR believes that through this course, the officers will be fully prepared to perform their duties efficiently. Encik Aiyub Omar, Head of Centre for Leadership, Negotiation and Public Diplomacy (LNPD), delivered his closing remarks and presented the certificates to the participants on the last day of the course.
