The Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) successfully hosted its highly anticipated Leadership Course for Mid-Level Officers from 15 to 17 October 2024. This course was crafted exclusively for mid-level government officers poised to take on greater leadership responsibilities.
Organised by the Centre for Leadership, Negotiation and Public Diplomacy (LNPD) at Amari Hotel Kuala Lumpur, the course brought together twenty-five dynamic participants from various ministries/agenciesdepartments. These included representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost Living, Ministry of Human Resources, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Communications, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Housing and Local Government, Public Service Department, and Malaysian Investment Development Authority. Their enthusiasm and active engagement throughout the sessions were commendable.
The course aims to develop essential leadership competencies to empower participants in maximising their leadership potential and effectiveness within the public sector and strengthen participants’ capacity for strategic leadership, enabling them to accelerate professional growth and make meaningful contributions to their respective organisations. Through a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical applications, including case studies, role-playing exercises, and interactive workshops, participants will enhance their communication and interpersonal skills and build confidence in managing complex leadership skills.
In conclusion, this course highlights the vital role of ethical leadership and the dynamic application of leadership skills in the public sector. This transformative training equips leaders to inspire trust and promote transparency, fostering an environment where innovative solutions can flourish.
