Be Grammar Smart

The Centre for Languages and Cultural Diplomacy has brought to a close another English course titled, “Be Grammar Smart”, at the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) on 9 - 11 September 2025. Knowing that grammar is a necessity to prevent the rise of miscommunication, the course was conducted with the aim to enhance the participants’ knowledge of proper grammar utilisation, suited for work. To ease the participants’ struggle with grammar, the course conducted simulation activities, allowing the participants to practice using appropriate grammatical structures for both speaking and writing at the workplace.


The course participants comprised government officers from various ministries and agencies including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Department of Agriculture, Taiping Hospital, Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW), Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (JAWI), Johor State Education Department, Penang Regional Development Authority (PERDA), Sabah State Attorney General Chambers, Pontian District Health Office, South East Johor Development Authority (KEJORA), Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES), National Advanced Youth Vocational Institute (IKTBN), Alor Gajah, Forestry Department of Peninsular Malaysia, National Audit Department, Department of Wildlife and National Parks, National Archives of Malaysia, Ministry of Finance, Sentul District Education Office and National Geospatial Centre.


With the incorporation of both theoretical lectures and practical sessions, the participants applied accurate grammar rules to confidently express their thoughts in written and spoken form successfully.
