ASEAN Lecture Siries : Building a People–Oriented ASEAN Community :Challenges and Opportunities
In conjunction with the ASEAN Day which is celebrated every year on the 8th of August, IDFR has organized a forum entitled “Building a People – Oriented ASEAN Community, Challenges and Opportunities. This event was held at the IDFR’s Auditorium on the 10th of August 2010. The programme was a panel discussion of 4 panelists exchanging views and ideas on the given topic.
The panelists comprises of Y.Bhg. Ambassador Ahmad Shahizan Abd Samad, Director-General, ASEAN Malaysia National Secretariat, Wisma Putra, Y.Bhg Tan Sri Ahmad Fuzi Razak, the Secretary General, World Islamic Economic Forum Foundation (WIEF), Y.Bhg Dato' Dr. Michael O.K Yeoh, Chief Executif Officer, Asian Strategy and Leadership Institut (ASLI) and Malaysian Representative the ASEAN High Level Task Force on Connectivity, and Y.Bhg Dato' Paduka Mohamamd Abu Bakar, Senior Lecturer at the Department of International and Strategic Studies, University of Malaya.
The discussion was moderated by Y.Bhg.Dato' Dr Mohd Yusof, the Director of INSPAG, UiTM and the objective of this forum was to increase public awareness and insight of the ASEAN Community. Senior Director of IDFR, Ambassador Abdullah Faiz Zain extended his warm welcome thru his welcoming remarks and the event was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Y.Bhg. Senator A. Kohilan Pillay. The attendee’s for the event were from various NGOs, private and government sectors, foreign missions in Malaysia as well as students from UiTM.
